New room update

The new room is really coming together! I bought a plain black comforter and a Pittsburgh Penguins patch on ebay. I used my excellent (HA!) sewing skills to sew the patch on to the comforter. The black futon cover finally came in and we put that on along with a few sports related pillows and a Steelers blanket draped over the back. My dad helped me hang the "curtain rods" which are not curtain rods at all, but hockey sticks with tab top valences hanging from them. The sliding closet doors are off and I have painted the inside Penguins gold. There will be a stripe of black and a few hooks to hang jerseys to make it look like a locker room area. I am also working on spray painting some shelves black to add much needed toy storage in the locker room area. Here's a pic of the hockey curtain rods. You can see the edge of the awesome bed in the corner. I'm going to add one more valence to get rid of the gap in the center. But I think that it turned out really cool!

My other project is decorating GB's huge dollhouse. My father in law built it for her and I have had it for so long. I just haven't had the time! So I decided I should probably get it done before he comes out for BB's birthday party in a week and a half! Please wish me luck on that!

In addition to Easter next week, BB's birthday party is the following Saturday. BB is aking for a Monster Jam birthday cake. I haven't decided if I should go the easy route and just put a couple of crushed cars and a monster truck on a cake or should I do what I really want to do and make a 3-D monster truck cake... I know, with everything else that's going on I should just go the easy route, but I won't... because I need more stress!

GB and I went to the mall last week. She saw the Easter Bunny and hid behind me! In her defense, he was huge and kinda scary looking! It was pretty funny though because all these little babies were so calm getting their pictures taken. There were toddlers running up to him and giving him hugs. But my three and a half year old hid behind me...

In other GB news, she has decided to change her name. To Dora. That's right she thinks she is Dora the Explorer! She has her own backpack (exactly like Dora's) that she wears all day. According to her, my dad is Boots, my mom is Abuela, BB is Diego, and the hubby and I are Papi and Mami. My parents have a dog that she has renamed Swiper! She and "Boots" go on adventures together. "Boots" tells her what the map says to do! It's hilarious and totally cute!

Operation New Room

The room remodel is in full swing! I painted on Saturday. Boring old white. The hubby and I took down the sliding closet doors and we are making a small "study area/ toy storage area" there. I bought 5 hockey sticks today. I am hoping to be crafty enough to figure out how to use them to make curtain rods and a lamp... If it doesn't go well, at least BB will have lots of hockey sticks to play with! His bed also came in today! He was super excited all day about sleeping on the top bunk. When bedtime rolled around, he was pretty scared to stay up there, but he laid down and wend to sleep really quickly! I think I love the new bed already! GB insisted on sleeping on the bottom bunk. She's "having a sleepover in BB's room!" She is also super excited about the bed. This is the bed. It's a picture from another website, so picture it without all the stuffed animals and crazy futon cover, and add a black futon cover. I'm actually kinda jealous... I would've loved this bed when I was young.I'll keep you updated as things get done! It all MUST be finished before BB's birthday in April because there will be a ton of people here.

BB's getting a new room!

BB thinks that he is too old for his race car bed and cars room. He'll be five next month. I thought we had at least another year or two before this happened! Anyway, we are getting rid of his race car bed and he is getting bunk beds. He will have a futon on the bottom that opens out into a full size bed. Of course he doesn't need anything that elaborate, but he's very spoiled that way! He chose to decorate his room with the local sports teams paraphernalia. That's good for me. We have tons of that! His room is totally wrecked right now! I took down the nascar border tonight. It came down very easily, so I was happy about that. But, while doing that, I had to move all of the furniture and toys. Lucky for me, he is staying at his Grandma and Pap's house tonight! Guess I'll be in there tomorrow trying to clean it up enough for him to sleep in there!

GB has taken to sleeping on her floor... She has a very nice and comfy daybed, but likes the floor better. Go figure. As long as she is sleeping, I don't care where she sleeps! Now, if I could just find a way to get BB to sleep...

Yes, I'm alive!

Wow! It's been forever since I posted! I'm not even sure why I haven't posted. My life has not been THAT crazy!

Anyway, last week we had parent/ teacher conference with bb's preschool teacher. I was kind of nervous going in because the boy has so much attitude with us and I wasn't sure how much of that he took to school with him. Turns out, he takes none!! I guess he saves it all for me... Anyway, they said he shares well, always contributes to conversations and lessons (and what he says is relevant!), is doing well learning his letter sounds, and is the only child in the class who writes first and last name. They are only going to start working on last names this month!

We took bb to Chuck E. Cheese for his friend's birthday party on Saturday. BB's girlfriend's mom asked how our conference went and the hubby told her it went well. He didn't say too much because he didn't want to seem like he was bragging. Good thing he didn't! C's mom said that her conference didn't go well... The teacher told her that C is bossy and mean to the other kids. Yeah, we already knew that... bb has been coming home pretty upset because C doesn't like him anymore or doesn't want to play with him. For a while, I was sad that they would go to different kindergartens next year. Now I'm ok with that. If we can just make it until the end of May, I'll be happy.

GB's dance teacher made the mistake of showing the girls the recital costume. It looks like a Cinderella dress except short because it's a tutu not a dress. They will be dancing to a Disney princess song. We got to watch them last week. If you've never seen a group of three year olds do ballet, I reccomend it! Totally cute! Everyday since she saw the costume, gb has asked me if the recital is today. OH MY GOODNESS! How will I make it until May 31st?!?! It will only get worse though. They get to wear the costume in March for pictures...

Good news and bad news

The good news is, we don't have lice. So far. The bad news is BB is sick. He woke up Friday with a fever and cough. He was pretty miserable. He was supposed to play soccer on Saturday morning, but was still sick. I've never seen the kid cry so hard! He was devastated that he couldn't go to his game. He told me "I'm never getting sick again!" I wish it was that easy kid! So far, nobody else has gotten sick, but I probably just jinxed myself! I'll take sick over lice any day!

In other news, I'm trying to convince the hubby to move so that we can have another baby. His biggest arguments are that we can't afford it and we don't have the space for it. We live in a three bedroom house, which I think is plenty big enough. But hubby thinks children should not have to share rooms. I found a house that looks nice, is in a nice neighborhood, is four bedrooms, and would be less expensive than our current house. I would be sad moving from this house because we live across the street from my parents. I would miss the convenience, but the other house is only a few miles away. I really like our house and area, but I really want another baby too... (sorry about the whining lol)

UGH! Lice

No, not in my house, yet. BB's girlfriend has lice... Ever since I heard, I've been so itchy just thinking about it. Nobody in my family has had lice and I'm really hoping that it stays that way! BB doesn't know about it. He just tells me that she has not been in school for two days. He also can't figure out why I keep checking his head. lol I'm a little neurotic when I hear about lice. I'm ok with germs and sickness, but lice freaks me out! We are getting haircuts tomorrow and GB wants her hair cut short. The other mom's at BB's school are going to think we had lice... lol

GB threw the mother of all tantrums today. What was the problem? She didn't want to get her hair combed. I told her she needed her hair combed to take BB to school and then go to storytime. She absolutely refused. Finally, I got her calmed down enough to get her hair combed. Then there was another tantrum that made me carry her out the door and forget that it was BB's snack day at school. We got BB to school, but did not have snack. Luckily we live close to school and drove back home for it. After dropping BB's snack off at school, GB was finally done with her tantrum and we went to lunch and storytime.

It's been a rough day and it's only 4:00... If there was alcohol in this house, I'd be drinking now!

Girls night out and BB's date

I can't tell you how wonderful my friends are! On Friday night, we went to dinner at a new mexican restaurant. Very yummy! Then we had to make a few quick stops at Wal-Mart, Joanne Fabrics, and Kohl's. Then went to a local bar and downed too many drinks. I'm not sure which part of the night was the most fun...

Most people don't think of Wal-Mart as a very fun place. We do... We are total goof balls! My friend, A, grabbed the clear plastic cup shapers for bras and put them on her boobs over her shirt and wore them around the store! I about peed my pants in the middle of the store!

We stopped at Joanne Fabrics to buy a snap for a project J is working on. In the snap aisle, are the parts for making bras... Of course, A grabs the cups and wears them. This time only for a second in that aisle.

Then we stopped at Kohl's so that A could buy a couple bras. She picked her bras and threatened to wear one around the store over her shirt! I think I really would have peed my pants if she did! Instead she just held one up to her boobs. She didn't walk around the store that way, but it was still pretty funny!

Finally, we went to the bar. They had a $3 Jolly Rancher drink special. Delicious! We had a few drinks, made fun of the drunk people (who were also probably laughing at us!), and did a horrible job answering random trivia. I did learn that a baby fish is called a fry and not a guppy. Who says you can't learn anything at the bar?

Anyway, the night was very fun and I don't think that I could pick a favorite part.

BB went on a date this weekend. He and his girlfriend went ice skating and to watch C's dad's hockey team play. BB has never ice skated before, but C's mom said he did very well for his first time. He loved it! They got to watch the hockey game from the front row. C's dad gave BB the puck from the winning goal. He loves that too. I'm surprised that he left it in the living room instead of sleeping with it! C's mom and dad tried to take them bowling afterward, but couldn't get a lane. They had to settle for playing games at the arcade and eating chicken fingers! BB was in heaven! So, any suggestions on where we can take BB and C the next time that they go out? Keep in mind, I live in a very cold place... so we need indoor activities.

Here's a picture of BB and C ice skating that her mom sent me.
