Girls night out and BB's date

I can't tell you how wonderful my friends are! On Friday night, we went to dinner at a new mexican restaurant. Very yummy! Then we had to make a few quick stops at Wal-Mart, Joanne Fabrics, and Kohl's. Then went to a local bar and downed too many drinks. I'm not sure which part of the night was the most fun...

Most people don't think of Wal-Mart as a very fun place. We do... We are total goof balls! My friend, A, grabbed the clear plastic cup shapers for bras and put them on her boobs over her shirt and wore them around the store! I about peed my pants in the middle of the store!

We stopped at Joanne Fabrics to buy a snap for a project J is working on. In the snap aisle, are the parts for making bras... Of course, A grabs the cups and wears them. This time only for a second in that aisle.

Then we stopped at Kohl's so that A could buy a couple bras. She picked her bras and threatened to wear one around the store over her shirt! I think I really would have peed my pants if she did! Instead she just held one up to her boobs. She didn't walk around the store that way, but it was still pretty funny!

Finally, we went to the bar. They had a $3 Jolly Rancher drink special. Delicious! We had a few drinks, made fun of the drunk people (who were also probably laughing at us!), and did a horrible job answering random trivia. I did learn that a baby fish is called a fry and not a guppy. Who says you can't learn anything at the bar?

Anyway, the night was very fun and I don't think that I could pick a favorite part.

BB went on a date this weekend. He and his girlfriend went ice skating and to watch C's dad's hockey team play. BB has never ice skated before, but C's mom said he did very well for his first time. He loved it! They got to watch the hockey game from the front row. C's dad gave BB the puck from the winning goal. He loves that too. I'm surprised that he left it in the living room instead of sleeping with it! C's mom and dad tried to take them bowling afterward, but couldn't get a lane. They had to settle for playing games at the arcade and eating chicken fingers! BB was in heaven! So, any suggestions on where we can take BB and C the next time that they go out? Keep in mind, I live in a very cold place... so we need indoor activities.

Here's a picture of BB and C ice skating that her mom sent me.

I forgot the most important reason!

I forgot to add to the in-law complaints that father-in-law has made sexual comments and/ or advances to at least one sister-in-law, my friend, and me. He's so sleazy! When we were at a baseball game this summer, I was taking GB to the bathroom then stopping at the concession stand. I asked him if he wanted anything. You can use your imagination to figure out his answer... He's lucky that GB was too young to understand that he said anything wrong! I was PISSED OFF! The hubby won't even leave me alone with him. When father-in-law came to visit, hubby needed to leave for a few minutes. He called my dad to come stay with me while he was gone! Father-in-law is by far the worst of the bunch, but the rest aren't too far behind.

The Penguin Cake

Well, it took me long enough, but I finally got the penguin cake pictures on my computer. This is one of my favorite cakes that I have made. So, here it is:

Speaking of time at the in-laws, Mum of Two asked if the in-laws were really THAT bad. The answer is a big, fat YES! They are the definition of country. They live out in the middle of nowhere and are the countriest of country folks... I am the farthest thing from country. I grew up and still live in the suburbs. The hubby and one brother escaped the country by going to a big city college and not moving back. Most of the old habits are gone, but the other brother, his family, father-in-law, and his girlfriend are still very, very country. In addition, they have no manners. When they burp their monstrous burps, they don't say excuse me. All they talk about is hunting and fishing. I don't have any interest in either hearing about or seeing pictures of the deer they shot. This list could go on and on... Hubby's semi-normal brother is very religous and I have to watch what I say around he and the wife. I am Cathoolic, but not quite as immersed in my religion as they are.

*DISCLAIMER* This post is meant to describe my in-laws only. I know not all country living people are not like this.

Welcome to 2009!

The holidays went pretty well. No major mishaps to note. The bears loved their Christmas gifts and we actually saw my brothers' families on Christmas! The sisters-in-law were ok with the bears' levels of sickness. That meant I had to be cordial to them instead of father-in-law... A few hours of pain and it was over with!

We did see father-in-law yesterday, along with the rest of the in-laws. Lucky for me, they like my friend, so she was invited (and actually went!!). I, of course, mingled with the in-laws a little, but mostly hung out with my friend. So, not too painful!! I made a penguin cake for the get together. It's my best yet!! I will post pics when I get them on my computer. The best part of the day? I got to have a frisco burger at Hardee's! I love Hardee's and there is not one close to us, but every time I see the in-laws, I get Hardee's. It's my own little reward for putting up with them! :)

I had my phone replaced by a moron at the verizon store who tried to tell me that my phone was vibrating after she held it up to her ear... Yes, she listened to see if it vibrated. She handed the phone back to me like I was the moron who couldn't figure out my own phone. I had her call my phone again and gave it back to her when it didn't vibrate. She then replaced my phone. So, it was mostly painless. But, I did have my phone replaced and I didn't even have to Fedex it. They did it right in the store for me. It works really well now.

BB goes back to school tomorrow. I'm kind of sad about that. I enjoyed him being home. Plus I didn't have to try to get him to school and back on time. But, it's back to the grind!

Here's to a happy and safe 2009!
